The 2023 Quartet returns to the Bordeaux blend format Arietta employed prior to the 2021 vintage: similar amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with a modest percentage of Cabernet Franc and a wee dram of Petit Verdot. With the percentage of new oak held at 20%, the Quartet 2023 will drink well upon release, while the rich skin tannins common to the 2023 reds should support aging for ten years. Arietta Associate Winemaker Patrick Nyeholt finds notes of blueberry, blackberry, nutmeg, shortbread, pie crust, tobacco, and savory and earthy undertones.
